We meet the 3rd Tuesday of every month following the SBB Historic Preservation Advisory Commission meeting at 7:30 p.m. at the Abraham Staats House,

February 8th 2008 ~Friday: “Tory Jack Day” for the students of the Robert Morris School in South Bound Brook, Joe Becton, guest speaker. (Not open to the General Public). February 9, 2008 ~ Saturday, 11 am – 4 pm “Tory Jack Day": Jack, a slave in the Abraham Staats household during the American Revolution, supported the patriots by spying on the British. This years program "The Black Soldier in the Civil War” features speaker Joe Becton and the 3rd Regiment United States Colored Troops Civil War Re-enactors, and will take place at the Abraham Staats House. February 24, 2008 ~ Sunday, 10:00am - 2:00pm "Middlebrook Generals' Headquarters Bus Tour" The five historic houses that served as headquarters for the generals during the 1778-1789 Middlebrook encampment are all on this bus tour. The Van Horne House in Bridgewater; the Wallace House in Somerville; the Van Veghten's home in Finderne; the Abraham Staats House in South Bound Brook; General Henry Knox, the Jacobus Vanderveer House in Bedminster. Make sure you tell your friends to hold the date, Huzzah! Hope to see you there! June 14, 2008 ~ Saturday: 6:00 pm "Boy Scout Flag Retirement Ceremony" September 13 & 14, 2008 ~ Saturday/Sunday: 10:00 am to 4:00 pm "Canal Days at the Abraham Staats House"- Learn about the D&R Canal era while strolling the grounds and touring the historic Abraham Staats House, c. 1740. Canal slide presentations, living history Civil War re-enactors, quilt making, exhibits and collections of Civil War era artifacts will be featured. Special guest President Abraham Lincoln will address our visitors on Saturday. Entry to house tour/exhibits: $2; parking and grounds free. PLEASE CHECK BACK SOON FOR UPDATED INFORMATION. October 13 & 14, 2008 ~ Saturday: 10:00 am to 5:00 pm & Sunday: noon to 5:00 pm "Somerset County's Weekend Journey through the Past". Throughout the day their will be Guided House tours by 18th Century costumed docents; Colonial period music; Outdoor cooking display on back lawn. There are 25 Historic sites in all having activities, for information go to www.schistoryweekend.com. December 5, 2008 ~ Friday: Annual Meeting with Covered Dish Dinner 7:00 p.m. at the Abraham Staats House. Business meeting first (voting on Officers for 2009), followed by socializing, refreshments and a general nice time! Please let us know if you will be attending the dinner meeting and if so, what will you be bringing (i.e: Appetizer, Entree, or Dessert)? Thank you, we look forward to seeing you at the meeting. December 13 & 14, 2008 ~ Saturday/Sunday: “Holiday at the Staats House” – Community organizations decorate rooms of the Abraham Staats House for the holidays; the nearby Hendrick Fisher House (located at the St. Andrews Ukrainian Church grounds, Franklin) will also be decorated for the holidays.
