2007 Tailgate the Canoe Races

 

   

Above are a few photographs from the Staats House of the 22nd Annual Delaware and Raritan Canal Paddlers Race

 

  Join us each year on the Sunday before Thanksgiving Day as we sit in the back yard of the House by the Canal for

  a spell the Canal Race floats by.  This year is falls on Sunday Nov 18th, 2007

 

  Bring your own refreshments and chairs we usually end up with a nice variety of food; we also have a fire going  

  outside to warm your hands! 


Heritage Trail Association Tours

of the Five Middlebrook Headquarters

Sunday, February 19th, 2006

 

The bus tour portion of the event was been cancelled; however, visitors did take the tours by automobile.  The houses that participated in the tour were: the home of John Wallace, headquarters for Washington himself; the home of Derrick Van Veghten, occupied by Nathaniel Greene, the Quartermaster General; Philip Van Horne’s, headquarters for Gen. William Alexander, Washington’s second-in-command that winter; the Abraham Staats House where Inspector General Frederick von Steuben was quartered, and the Jacobus Vanderver House, headquarters of Gen. Henry Knox, commander of the artillery.  The houses were open from 1 - 4 pm.  

 

The Van Horne House is located at 941 East Main Street, Bridgewater, across from the Commerce Bank Ballpark. Parking was available next to the house at Target. The tours are free, for more information call
